Can she break the curse? This made me so excited to read the next one。 As I’ve said before, I love retellings! Thank you Elm Vince for giving me an ARC to review! 。。。more

Aster grew up knowing that The Folkwood is a dangerous place。 The woods are full of fae who are extremely dangerous and have no regard for human life。 When her mentor died, Aster took over the role of the town's Greenwich。 She is to keep the forest back and protect the townspeople from the fae。 But it is her Tithe year and the danger of being taken is palpable。 The Tithe is a selection ceremony where the Beast picks an eighteen-year-old girl and takes her back into the Folkwood with him。 Against Aster grew up knowing that The Folkwood is a dangerous place。 The woods are full of fae who are extremely dangerous and have no regard for human life。 When her mentor died, Aster took over the role of the town's Greenwich。 She is to keep the forest back and protect the townspeople from the fae。 But it is her Tithe year and the danger of being taken is palpable。 The Tithe is a selection ceremony where the Beast picks an eighteen-year-old girl and takes her back into the Folkwood with him。 Against all odds, Aster is taken which means she is unable to help her town, though she won't give up that easily。 To her amazement, the Beast offers Aster her freedom if she manages to complete a certain task—make the rose garden bloom again, thus breaking the curse。 As she goes about her task, she finds that not everything is as she thought。 She befriends a brownie, discovers a new talent in herself, and finds out that there is a very thin line between love and hate。 She also learns that you can't trust just anyone in the land of faerie and she is left to choose between helping her people or breaking the curse。The foundation of the story is based on Beauty and the Beast, it is then infused with fae elements that add and alter the plot。 There are quite a few differences in the book that make it feel like a fresh, new idea。 The world-building is fantastic, there are a few maps included in the beginning and it makes the Cursed Kingdom and the Folkwood all the more realistic。 The details on the different fae species and descriptions of the characters really back up the realism。 Thorne, aka the Beast, is a handsome fae under a horrible curse。 What curse we do not know as he appears like any other Court fae, but he is very secretive and short-tempered which leads to all sorts of problems with Aster! Aster is a really good FMC in my opinion。 She is strong-minded, holds to her principles, caring, and quick-witted。 She’s got a lot of strength and courage and it is very easy to like her。 I love her interactions with Thorne and their banter is a lot of fun to read。 They were a very believable duo and their relationship never felt forced。I had only just read the first line of the blurb and I was sold! Beauty and the Beast retelling, plus fae-- yes please。 This book was so imaginative that I was completely transported the whole duration of the book。 I did not want to put it down even for a moment and I was left needing book 2。 The details are all laid out beautifully and weave a tale that will keep you hooked, there are plenty of twists and turns that will have you gasping for breath and clean romance bits that will make you swoon。 This is a great book that I would recommend for anyone who loves fairy tale retellings, enemies-to-lovers, fae, clean romance, or Beauty and the Beast。 。。。more

An Enchantment of Thorns is the first book in the A Court of Fairy Tales series by Helena Rookwood and Elm Vince and it was freaking amazing。 This is a fantastical Beauty and the Beast retelling that's centered on the Fae and is filled with magic。 This book was everything! The story centers on Aster who is the town's Greenwich, she uses herbs to help the people in her village and helps keep the fae out of the town。 The story does give me A Court of Thorns and Roses vibe because Aster is the young An Enchantment of Thorns is the first book in the A Court of Fairy Tales series by Helena Rookwood and Elm Vince and it was freaking amazing。 This is a fantastical Beauty and the Beast retelling that's centered on the Fae and is filled with magic。 This book was everything! The story centers on Aster who is the town's Greenwich, she uses herbs to help the people in her village and helps keep the fae out of the town。 The story does give me A Court of Thorns and Roses vibe because Aster is the youngest of three sisters and she is the one who gets involved with the fae while the middle sister, Ava, is centered on beauty and is a little thoughtless when it comes to Ava。 Finally, the oldest of the three is Laural, she is the fierce hunter of the three。 Something that's unique about this story is that the sisters have the same father but different mothers。 Aster and Laurel were raised together with their father, I don't know what happens to their mothers, but Ava still lives with her mother in a mansion but still has contact with her father and sisters even if there is a bit of family drama。Aster cares deeply for people, is very responsible, and takes her job as the town's Greenwich very seriously。 Every year all the girls who are of age have to go to the tithe road so that the fae can spirit one of them away。 When it's time to pay the tithe it's Aster that the Beast claims。 Aster enters the world of the fae, with magic, unseen dangers, revels, and all in a lush backdrop。 Aster is a fighter, stubborn, and determined to save herself。 The beast is a fae lord, Thorne, and while the two don't get along at first, they find a tentative peace and that grows into something more。 Thorne is not what I expected, especially for a fae。 At first, he's prickly (he has his reasons) but he never harms or tricks Asters, he eventually warms even more to Aster and the two form a friendship to turns into more。A cast of other characters make an appearance, a golden fae name Faolan who is Thorne's friend and nice to Aster, another one of Thorne's friends makes an appearance and is nicer than expected, plus there is all the fae roaming around the majestic manor。 The characters are all very interesting and add a new element to a story that is lovingly familiar。Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite fairy tales and seeing it in this reimagined story brought happiness to my heart。 While this is a whole new story I was truly excited when I recognized the fairytale influences, the roses, the beast, the curse and so much more。 While bringing in fairly new aspects such as how human craft in the fae world works, magic-using nature such as flowers, herbs, and etc。 I've only read one book about how "human craft" affects the fae so it's good to see it again and I would swear that I read a book that used green magic before but it's way more detailed and very much apart of the story in a way that brings it to life。An Enchantment of Thorns was everything, one of my favorite Beauty and the Beast retellings。 I loved seeing the relationship grow between Aster and Thorne, to Aster learn about the fae world and get a better understanding of the fae, to see her preconceived notions change but are still smart enough to be wary。 Not to mention the magic was crafty and detailed along with the lush descriptions, and the little Easter eggs about other tales that were mentioned were great。 I have a few questions that I would love to get answers for, like the Wilden's family eyes that kept getting mentioned not to mention the events that happened at the end of the book has me asking a slew of questions and dying for the next book because what I thought was a standalone certainly is not。 Aster's story concludes in the next book, A Trial of Thorns and I cannot wait。 。。。more

Like he becomes much more calm and reasonable vs the angsty jerk we first meet。 Kinda like the author reminded he was supposed to be our romantic lead and thought he should have some redeeming qualities for that to happen, haha。 It's not a huge issue, though。 Also, despite what the blurb says, this doesn't end on a HEA, but rather a cliffhanger to lead into the next thrust of the story。 That in itself was a fun little twist (though one I saw coming) and there are enough details sprinkled throughout to make the next book intriguing。 Overall, this was enjoyable。 If you like the niche, you'll enjoy this。 It's nothing particularly unique, but was still a sweet romance with a good balance of character development and plot。 。。。more

Yes, I most certainly am。 。。。more

I honestly believe that this is the most enchanting telling of the fairy tale the beauty and the beast which I have ever read, and there have been numerous re-tellings especially lately。 The tale is based on Aster, the greenwitch who protects her village from the encroachment of the fae forest, full of terrible fae creatures who cause harm to the villagers and their livelihood。 Every year the people of Rosehill fear the day of the tithe, on which the beast from the forest emerges and chooses one I honestly believe that this is the most enchanting telling of the fairy tale the beauty and the beast which I have ever read, and there have been numerous re-tellings especially lately。 The tale is based on Aster, the greenwitch who protects her village from the encroachment of the fae forest, full of terrible fae creatures who cause harm to the villagers and their livelihood。 Every year the people of Rosehill fear the day of the tithe, on which the beast from the forest emerges and chooses one of the maidens who turn eighteen that year and takes her with him to his manor in the wood which is under a curse。 This year he picks Aster, thus leaving the village unprotected and getting more than he bargained for when he chose her。 All previous girls who had been taken had never been seen again but Aster was adamant she would come back to protect her family and friends from the nasty fae。 Upon arriving and finding herself a prisoner at the manor house, surrounded by fae creatures, she fought with all her might against the beast until feelings started to blossom between the two of them and she realised the beast was no beast at all。 She worked with all her might to help Thorne break the curse by trying to grow his rose garden, finding out she was an enchantress and getting used to life at the manor。 However a day arrived when she was obliged to choose whether to stand by Thorne and see the curse lifted, or return to the village to save her sister and the other people being attacked by the fae creatures。 Could Aster try and do both or would she fail those she cared for? I love the magic in this book, the beautiful fae lore, the lore about healing, the loyalty of the lovely brownie and of course the romance but I hated the awful betrayal at the end, which was unexpected and cruel and I cannot wait for the next book in the series to follow Aster on her new adventure! 。。。more

Anyone who knows me knows that beauty and the beast is my absolute ultimate favourite fairytale and I absolutely adore retellings and this one is just incredible。 It’s grabs you from the very start and I fell into this world and in love with this world also。 There’s twists and turns and the characters are just awesome and you feel the relationship and love growing and developing throughout the story。 Aster is strong and capable and although she faces scary and intense times she does with her hea Anyone who knows me knows that beauty and the beast is my absolute ultimate favourite fairytale and I absolutely adore retellings and this one is just incredible。 It’s grabs you from the very start and I fell into this world and in love with this world also。 There’s twists and turns and the characters are just awesome and you feel the relationship and love growing and developing throughout the story。 Aster is strong and capable and although she faces scary and intense times she does with her head held high。 It’s a great retelling with fae twists and I hope there’s more to come! 。。。more

I always love retellings of the beauty and the beast classic。。This story is has the same core story but right from the start it is very different and I found myself curious to know more。。Fast paced and suspense filled it had several characters who fit their role easily。。Aster is beautiful and smart survivor who cares for all her sisters despite being treated bad by Ava。Laurel is one beautiful character too。I usually hate Cliffhangers but in this book I'm so glad there's more even if I have to wa I always love retellings of the beauty and the beast classic。。This story is has the same core story but right from the start it is very different and I found myself curious to know more。。Fast paced and suspense filled it had several characters who fit their role easily。。Aster is beautiful and smart survivor who cares for all her sisters despite being treated bad by Ava。Laurel is one beautiful character too。I usually hate Cliffhangers but in this book I'm so glad there's more even if I have to wait to read it。Loved it overall!! 。。。more

This book combines Fae lore with Beauty and the Beast。 I absolutely adored reading it and watching the characters grow。 The book includes plenty of elements from the original Beauty and the Beast while throwing in loads of original surprises。 The Beauty and the Beast arc concluded, but the end of the book left a hook for a longer series and I am dying to find out what will happen next。 I hope it won't be too long before I can get my hands on the next book and find out what will happen with Aster This book combines Fae lore with Beauty and the Beast。 I absolutely adored reading it and watching the characters grow。 The book includes plenty of elements from the original Beauty and the Beast while throwing in loads of original surprises。 The Beauty and the Beast arc concluded, but the end of the book left a hook for a longer series and I am dying to find out what will happen next。 I hope it won't be too long before I can get my hands on the next book and find out what will happen with Aster and Thorne。I received a free advanced copy but my opinions are my own。 。。。more
